About Us
Our Mission
The mission of the Chicago Regionwide CIE is to promote equitable health outcomes for individuals and communities across Cook County and the Chicago metro area.
Our initial focus as we build out the Chicago Regionwide CIE is to improve care for people experiencing homelessness.
We strive to achieve our mission by enabling the exchange of information among health and social service providers in our region, which then helps to improve service delivery and continuity of care.
At the heart of the CIE are the people who have lived or living experience of the social issues the CIE is meant to address. They inform every step we take and every decision we make.
When we say ‘Chicago Regionwide CIE’…
…we primarily mean ‘network of members’
Nine times out of ten, when people say ‘Chicago Regionwide CIE’, they refer to our network of health and social service providers and agencies.
These ‘members’ continue to develop shared governance, data, and workflows to better support the needs of community members.
…we sometimes mean ‘backbone organization’
A non-profit backbone organization (also) called the Chicago Regionwide CIE provides administrative and operational support to the CIE network (like maintaining this very website). This organization is a subsidiary of the Illinois Public Health Institute (IPHI).
…we sometimes mean ‘all of us’
There is no CIE without the input of community members, government and philanthropic partners, subject matter experts, and many others.
If you have participated or have been touched by this project in any way, we think of you as part of the CIE.
…we occasionally mean ‘technology’
Sharing information is a key component of the CIE. So, on occasion, when people say ‘CIE’, they may be referring to the technological infrastructure that makes data sharing between our network members possible.
This Is Us
The network map you see below reflects what we just outlined above. The Chicago Regionwide CIE network comprises three main pillars: the backbone, network members, and our external partners.
This map contains a lot of information—and there’s a lot we couldn’t fit on there. So, we will explain everything in more detail soon on a dedicated webpage or blog post. More to come soon.
